What a wonderful week we had! The transition to full days went very smoothly. Our older students and those returning from last year were a great help to our new friends.
We covered several lessons on being helpful and kind in the classroom and how we can create a peaceful classroom full of love and care.
Working together and taking turns were popular themes this week as we practiced our roles together in the Oak room community.
In our Science and Geography areas we studied the solar system, the differences between Air, Land and Water and even learned the names of some land forms!
Our peace education this week focused on respect for ourselves, people around us and our classroom environment. We also had “silence” several times throughout the week. This is always a favorite activity.
Please Note:
Hopefully all of our families received their child’s “Thursday Folder.” If you have any questions about these or any of our other classroom procedures, please let us know.
Don’t forget to join our CGMS Facebook Group. This is an excellent way to reconnect and get to know the other Center Grove Montessori families. We also like to post classroom pictures of the children working and playing, usually several times a week.
Lastly, for your child’s comfort, please bring pillows and blankets for nap that can be left at school without attachment issues. Thanks for your cooperation with this!
Happy Birthday to Dean Katona! He’s five!
Again, thanks for a great first week! We are looking forward to many more.
Child quote of the week:

We hope you have had a wonderful summer. We are busy readying the school for everyone. We are excited to see our returning friends and to meet our new friends!
Here are some dates to remember:
Parent Orientation for Elementary is August 1 from 7 to 8 p.m.
Parent Orientation for Primary is August 5 from 7 to 8 p.m.
During parent orientation you will get information about the school policies, what to expect during the school year and meet the teachers and ask questions. It’s also a great way to meet the other parents!
Childcare will be provided during parent orientation for a nominal fee of $2.
There will be a Open House for the Primary August 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. This night is a great way for our returning friends and new friends to meet the teachers and get excited about their school and environment.
School starts August 7, that day and the remainder of the week will be half days. Regular school schedule begins August 12.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone!

It is happening and we can’t stop it! The end is near and everyone is moving up! If we had our choice this would all stay the same forever, but change is inevitable and it is about to happen to the Tulip Room. At 12:00 Thursday we will all grow again. What a wonderful and mournful time of year!
We have had a busy couple weeks, with finalizing our Spring Committee groups, having a booth at the Community Showcase, opening a Snack Shack during lunch, hosting the first ever CGM dance, penny race finale, as well as completing our daily work…how exhausting and fun for us all. We also prepped for our zoo trip with “Biome Research Teams” who researched plants & animals and biome info related to those we will see at the zoo. We also took a trip to an Indian’s Baseball game for Baseball in Education, where we watched a game and filled out a packet connecting baseball to curriculum areas. Then we rounded it off with some Wiffleball, to practice baseball skills/terminology.
We are celebrating “lasts” right now; we had our last library trip (except for a drop to do this week), our last Spanish class, our last Yoga class, our last Art class, our last full Thursday, our last “Fun Time Friday”, our last work plan of the school year…we are sad for lasts and ready for break!
Some calendar notes: Tuesday is cleaning day, we will be gathering things that need to go home for the summer, please help check your child’s cubby Tuesday and Wednesday for papers, slippers, etc. Wednesday we will be going to the zoo ALL DAY! Pack a lunch that doesn’t need warming, water bottle & sunscreen as we will be there all day. Also be sure if you are in running club that you have a water bottle, Wednesday will be our last run (we will try to run a complete mile). Finally Thursday will be our day at Westside Park on Main Street. We will meet from 8:30-12:00. We will enjoy time at the park as well as our “Mini-Relay” where, beginning at 9:30am, we will walk/run/have fun for 24 minutes to raise money for the American Cancer Society, and it represents the 24 hours a day that cancer patients spend with their battle. Join us for fun, a good cause and a great time! Pack a picnic lunch and bring the whole family!
We know we say this a lot, but we are really thankful and grateful to be a part of so many amazing people’s lives, both big and short. We couldn’t ask for a better place to be than where we are now! We are sad and excited to see this year end and a new one begin. Have a safe and happy summer! We will miss you tons!

Every year about this time, we start to feel that we need more time. We start to reflect on how much we have grown together, and will miss each other !
Just a few days are left before summer break!
On Wednesday the 22nd , we will be celebrating summer birthdays. We will have ice cream with toppings brought by our summer birthday friends, Kira, Braden, Patrick and Jasraj. In the past berries, granola and seeds have been popular with children.
Thursday the 23rd is our last day at the park.
The last day of school will be at WESTSIDE park, off of Main Street.(and Howard)
8:30 – Noon. Don’t forget to pack a lunch! Parents are encouraged to stay. We will be doing Relay for Life games and activities. Bathrooms WILL be open!
With mixed emotions I have to say this will be my last blog for the CGM families for this school year.
William Arthur Ward said–
“The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.”
Your children are the great teachers that have inspired me every day this year. Thank you for letting me spend time with your children. Together we have learned, grown and had tons of fun.
I am ready for some hot sunny days to smell the grass, enjoy the flowers, and hear the sounds of insects, bull frogs and some rain of course!
Enjoy your summer!
Indu Agnihotri
P.S. from Ms. Jama
I wanted to take a moment and let you all know how much I have enjoyed being with your children. They have inspired me as well. I come to school every day looking forward to spending time with them. You should be very proud of your little people! They are on their way to being wonderful citizens of our world. I wish you days of sun and evenings filled with lightening bugs. Have a wonderful summer! Ms. Jama

With the beautiful weather, we have been spending a lot of time outside! The pea plants we planted in our gardening area are sprouting nicely, the strawberries have started to grow, and the children are really enjoying finding bugs and noticing all of the life that is buzzing around them.
Friends helping Emery find slugs under the stumps.
Only 4 days left, and boy are they going to be fun!
We are planning on having a water fun day on Tuesday afternoon. The children will need to bring their bathing suits and a towel. Please do not have them wear their suits, we’d like for them to have a dry set of clothes for changing into when we are finished.
We will be celebrating summer birthdays on Wednesday. We will look at birthday book pages of our friends and have an ice cream party!
Last day of school – May 23rd Thursday.
The last day of school will be at WESTSIDE park off of Main Street. 8:30 – Noon. Don’t forget to pack a lunch! Parents are encouraged to stay. We will be doing Relay for Life games and activities. Bathroom WILL be open!
Child quote of the year:
Maisie: “Miss Holly, you’re the best.”
Note: Maisie has said this to all of us teachers and Brenda throughout the year, every day. We’ve had three years together Maisie, and we’ll miss you!
