Toddler Lead Guide: CGM seeks a lead guide in our Toddler (18 months-3 years old) classroom for its inaugural year, starting January 2021. Lead guide will work closely with an assistant in the classroom. This candidate will currently have a toddler lead certification through a MACATE accredited program or be interested in pursuing a training program through a MACATE accredited program. This individual must have a strong understanding of an authentic Montessori environment and prior experience with children ages 0-3 in any school or childcare setting. CGM expects the guide to be prepared to work with current staff and families to uphold the Montessori philosophy and create and maintain strong relationships with the school community. Job will have physically demanding aspects and will be the responsibility of the individual to determine their limitations. Daily hours TBD by the School Director upon hiring.

Toddler Assistant: CGM seeks two part – time assistants in our Toddler (18 months-3 years old) classroom for its inaugural year, starting January 2021. The assistant will work closely with the lead guide in the classroom. Prior experience in a Montessori environment preferred. This individual must have prior experience with children ages 0-3 in any school or childcare setting. CGM expects the assistant to be prepared to work with current staff and families to uphold the Montessori philosophy and create and maintain strong relationships with the school community. The toddler assistant will work closely with the lead guide and be able to take direction and guidance from that lead. The assistant will help with duties in the classroom including, but not limited to, food preparation, diapering, classroom preparation, student observations and cleaning. Job will have physically demanding aspects and will be the responsibility of the individual to determine their limitations with the school. Hours to be determined by School Director upon hiring.

Elementary Assistant: The Assistant assists the Director /Directress in preparing and maintaining the environment in which the Montessori
approach to education is implemented. The Assistant:

1. Is directly responsible for dusting and cleaning the environment, refilling supplies, and properly storing all classroom supplies. Supply requirements and needs regarding this responsibility should be discussed with the Director/Directress.
2. Assist the Director/Directress with the care and maintenance of classroom materials, i.e. maintaining an orderly environment and keeping it clean and in good condition, as directed.
3. Assist in the preparation of curriculum material, as directed.
4. Repairs materials and equipment, as necessary or directed.
5. Phrases directives positively when speaking with the children.
6. Works with individual and small groups of children as directed by the Director/Directress.
7. Supervise classroom as directed by Director/Directress.
8. Shares the responsibility for the safety and physical well-being of the children at all times. The children are not to be left unattended, and classroom ratios must be maintained on the playground as they are inside (two adults for 25 children).
9. Helps with the maintenance of current, accurate classroom records.
10. Helps maintain strong relationships with the parents, relationships characterized by mutual respect and goodwill.
11. Helps with the maintenance of the inventory of the classroom.
12. Reports any and all accidents/incidents at once. Prepares a written report stating date, time, nature of accident and action taken. Makes Director/Directress aware of the accident/incident.
13. Helps supervise children in the execution of fire drills. The routine is to be clearly established and the building exited with dispatch and order.
14. Attends staff meetings, as and when requested (Assistants are always welcome at all Staff meetings ).
15. Assists with other projects, programs, and planning as assigned or requested by the school’s leadership.
16. Shares questions and observations with Director/Directress.
17. Initiates growth and change in his/her own intellectual and professional development, seeking out conference, courses, and other opportunities to learn.
18. Establishes positive relationships with students which, while recognizing the differing roles of adult and child, are characterized by mutual respect and goodwill.
19. Helps maintain an environment that meets or exceeds State health, fire, and child care requirements.
20. Notifies the Director immediately of personal or professional difficulties with children, parent, or staff.
21. Protects the peace and privacy of the children at work.
22. Is self-aware and self-monitoring in identifying and solving student, curricular, and school problems.
23. Participates in the establishment and maintenance of the atmosphere of collegial support and adherence to professional standards.
24. Models integrity, curiosity, responsibility, creativity, and respect for all persons as well as an appreciation for racial, cultural, and gender issues and diversity.
