Halloween at CGM

We will be having a “Halloween Parade” on the 31^st visiting the area “approved” businesses. If weather permits, we will parade in their costumes. Otherwise we will have our parade inside.

When choosing a costume, please consider that some costumes may be frightening to other children, especially masks. We request that all scary masks be left at home as they are inappropriate (and sometimes too scary) for our environment.  Weapons are unacceptable.

If your child does not attend on Wednesdays they are most welcome to come in and join the fun! We would, however, prefer the parent to stay and help.

Please see below the instructions for costumes for each room:

Maple (1/2 day)
If your child wishes, s/he may wear a costume to school on Wednesday October 31st. Please make sure children have a change of clothes, as they may want to get out of their costume.

Oak (Full day)

Please have your child BRING their costume; we will assist in getting them dressed for the parade.

Tulip

On Wednesday, October 31^st we will put on our costumes (please nothing scary or violent; including no scary masks or weapons). Please have your children pack their costumes in their backpacks for this event, as we will still have a full day of learning that day. The joys of the Elementary class are that these children are able to dress/un-dress themselves, if you feel like your child might struggle with the costumes, please practice with them before the big day.

A Huge Thank You

Thank you so much to all the parents!  We placed a Small Hands Order of $1200!!  There were lots of donations from that order to our classrooms as well, thank you!

Keep those box tops coming!  We got almost $100 in box tops!

Scholastic is a hit, with a number of new books going into our classrooms.

You will be asked to enter your email address, and the password. Password is Oak2012 (case sensitive). You can order from the website.

Please have your order completed by 10/17/12. For orders completed by then there will be no shipping charge and no minimum total. Also, if you order by 10/17/12 you will receive a $10 discount on a mini session or a $20 discount on a full session that is scheduled and held before 12/21/12. Orders after 10/17/12 will require a $30 minimum and will have $6 s/h.

If there are specific edits you would like please contact me. I can remove some shadows, and convert to B&W. Upcoming session opportunities include: fall: changing leaves and the pumpkin patch; winter: hot cocoa picnic, and Holiday stories by the fire. Lifestyle sessions are available, too.

SCUBA? What’s SCUBA?

Well, here is your chance to find out.
This is an invitation to our students and their siblings above the age of 8.
We would like to get together a class to participate in a PADI Bubblemakers class.
For $20 and a possible pool fee, your child will have the opportunity to put on SCUBA gear, and take their first breath underwater.
We will have the expertise of Southern Indiana Scuba as our dive instructors.
We hope for this to take place on a weekend in early November. Please let us know if you are interested as we will need a head count as early as possible for gear and scheduling.

Volunteer Meeting

Volunteer Meeting

Monday,  September 17^{th at} 7 p.m.

If you are interested in volunteering in the classroom, please attend this meeting.  During this meeting, each teacher will explain a little bit about Montessori and how the classroom runs. You will also learn how to interact with the children, and some of the projects and activities you will be doing with them.  We will also work on the volunteer schedule.

All volunteers are required to come to the meeting, as well as come observe for an hour during school hours. Please schedule your observation with me as soon as you can.

A Huge Thank You

Rolls Royce, located here in Indiana, donated a box full of teacher materials to us this year.

We want to give them a big, appreciative shout out for the donation.

We are able to get FREE mulch from the Greenwood Fire Department on Frye road, however, we need help getting it picked up and spread out in our play area.

United Montessori Schools of Indiana Conference 2012
